June 1998: Maine Trip

Page 1

Lynne, Thomas and Peter, and Colleen, Justine and Aric drove to Maine in the summer of 1998. Dave and Al travelled by air to Maine a little later. Unfortunately, lightning destroyed the main cabin during the winter after we were there.
We took a walking tour of Bath. This city has been building ships for a long time. Some people ended up with money, and built some very nice houses.
The Maine Camp is on the bay. From the porch of the main cabin, you could throw stones into the bay. Beyond the bay lies the Atlantic Ocean. There is a fishing village off to the North.
There are a number of buildings on the site. There is no electricity, but there is running water and kerosene lights. And lots of mosquitoes.
Short haircuts all around for a summer of no maintaince.
The rocks (at low tide) are rather interesting. These tortured rocks are the main breakwater between the bay and the campsite.
